About Audio Volume Booster
Adjusts audio volume by running the decoded audio buffer through a GainNode in an OfflineAudioContext. A gain value of 1.0 means no change; values above 1.0 amplify the audio; values below 1.0 reduce volume. Very high gain values (above 3–4×) may cause clipping — where peaks exceed the maximum amplitude — resulting in distortion. For best results with quiet recordings, use 1.5–3×.
Frequently Asked Questions
Start with 2× and listen. If it still sounds quiet, try 3–4×. Gains above 4× for most recordings will introduce noticeable clipping. The output file clamps samples to the ±1.0 range, so extreme values will distort.
Set the gain so the loudest part of your audio just reaches 100% without clipping. A value of 1÷(peak_amplitude) would be the exact normalization factor — but for most voice recordings, 1.5–2× achieves comfortable listening volume.
